Federal University Gashua: History, Courses & Insights
The prestigious Federal University Gashua (FUGashua) sits in the northeastern Nigerian state of Yobe. Providing chances for high-quality education and research while also filling in educational gaps in the region has been FUGashua’s mission since its founding in 2013. The organization’s stated goal is to provide equal educational opportunities to all citizens of Nigeria.
As part of a larger federal effort to increase enrollment in post secondary education, FUGashua was established. States with low enrollment and high illiteracy rates were given priority when twelve institutions were approved for development in 2010 across six geopolitical zones. With the appointment of Professor Shehu Abdul Rahaman as the inaugural Vice-Chancellor, FUGashua formally opened its doors in February 2013. As a result of its rising popularity, enrollment increased from 240 pioneer students in the initial matriculation to nearly a thousand in 2018.

A center for research and study, the FUGashua library was founded alongside the institution. In order to supplement the courses that are offered, it gives necessary academic materials. Library director Dr. Adam Gambo Saleh makes sure all students may get their hands on the books and resources they need to do well in class and with their research.
